Cost-Effective Real-Time MES and MOM Systems

BellHawk provides Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) systems that are low cost and easy to use and implement. These MOM systems, which have full integrated real-time Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Warehouse Management (WMS) capabilities, are a cost effective alternative to ERP systems that have embedded Manufacturing Execution System (MES) capabilities.

A BellHawk MOM/MES system can be rented for installation on a Windows Server in your plant for under $1,000 per month. BellHawk can be installed in as little as 2 Hours and can be up and running in a couple of days, with all or most of the setup done on a DIY (do it yourself) basis by our clients to minimize the cost.

Contrast this to an ERP system with embedded MES capabilities, which can easily cost over $200,000 to implement, and can need a team of expensive consultants on-site for months or even years to roll-out. And even then, these systems are too complicated for many production workers to use, so these people have to spend their valuable time filling out paper forms with production and inventory data that is typed into the ERP system, often a day later, by overhead people who work in the office.

With BellHawk, each shop-floor worker can be equipped with a mobile device to enable them to receive work orders in real-time, rapidly collect production and inventory data using barcode scanning, and receive immediate warning to prevent operational mistakes.

BellHawk Systems implements intelligent Real-Time Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) Systems for its clients, based on its BellHawk software, in five layers:

  1. Real-Time Operational Status Tracking and Mistake Prevention - this is the foundation layer where BellHawk provides the means to know what is going on in real-time with customer orders, materials, people, and equipment, as well as inbound and out bound supply chains. It also provides the means to automatically warn people when they are about to make a mistake, such as using the wrong material for a job.
  2. Silo Elimination - Intelligent Enterprise Integration - this is where BellHawk automatically exchanges information between the systems used by different departments (silos) within a manufacturing organization so that information flows seamlessly to the people who need it.
  3. Automated Production Scheduling - in our frenetic, demand driven, on-line ordering, next-day delivery world, where things can still go wrong in the blink of an eye, it is rapidly becoming impossible for people to handle the demands of scheduling hundreds of orders, through dozens of operation s and still get them out on time.
  4. Demand Driven Planning - this is where BellHawk automatically orders and plans the purchase and/or making of materials in response to changes in demand as well as to changes in ground truth, incoming data from other silos, such as sales, and changes in schedule due to machines going down or people getting sick.
  5. Automated Alerting - this is where the system monitors the lower four layers for changes in operational status, schedules and plans, and automatically alerts people when they need to take action, typically on their mobile device. Instead of managers "walking the floor", or sitting "glued" to their computer screens, trying to determine when something is about to go wrong, AI rules and algorithms examine vast amounts of data in real-time to determine when human intervention is needed.

In each of these layers, artificial intelligence (AI) methods play a major role to analyze and synthesize the data and to provide advice and warnings to operations managers and their staff. Due to the use of these embedded AI rules and algorithms,  BellHawk Real-Time Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) systems are easy to use, quick and low cost to implement.

BellHawk works out of the box with a standard set of rules covering a wide variety of manufacturing situations. These rules can be tailored to the specific needs of each manufacturing plant by importing configuration parameters in the form of Excel spreadsheets.
